Our body can be attacked by fungi and bacteria in the case if an imbalance of the gut flora, such as Candida. It is a form of yeast which lives in the intestines and the mouth in a very low amount.
Yet, in the case of an overgrowth, it breaks down the intestine walls and enters the bloodstream, releasing toxic byproducts all over the body, and causing numerous health issues, from digestive problems, and depression, to cancer.
Namely, the healthy bacteria in the gut regulate the levels of Candida in the body, but there are many factors that might cause Candida overgrowth, such as:
- A diet rich in sugar and refined carbohydrates, since they feed the yeast
- Alcohol abuse
- Oral contraceptives
- Antibiotics that destroy the friendly bacteria in the gut
As soon as the Candida Albicans population begins to overgrow, it causes countless health issues, from nail fungus, migraines, to pain, issues with the internal organs, hives, and eczema.
Here are the all the symptoms that might indicate a Candida overgrowth in the body:

The dysfunction of the immune system can be a result of various complex factors, but the leading reason is antibiotic use since they wipe out the friendly micro-organisms in the digestive system, which is a perfect environment for Candida, as it is antibiotic-resistant.
Candida starts to change its shape, and overgrow, developing large families known as colonies.
Moreover, nutrient deficiencies weaken the immune system too, and modern diets are low in nutrients, and high in sugar, carbohydrates, hydrogenated oils and fats (trans-fats), heavy metals, preservatives, white flour products, processed foods, food additives, and pesticides.
Foods are grown in nutrient-depleted soil, handled and cooked improperly, exposed to radiation, stored for a long time, and full of chemicals and preservatives to extend their shelf life. This contributes to a weak immune system as well.
Testing for Candida at Home
To check if you have a Candida issue, you can make a simple test at home.
As soon as you wake up, before you put anything in the mouth, fill a glass with room temperature bottled water. Spit a bit of saliva in the water, and check the water every 15 minutes for the next hour.
If you notice cloudy specks, strings (fibers) traveling down into the water from the saliva floating on the top, or cloudy saliva that sinks to the glass bottom, you should start treating the Candida overgrowth in the body.
